Amy Winehouse walked out of an East London police station around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night, after being held for eight hours.

“She has been bailed to return on a date in May,” a Scotland Yard spokesman tells PEOPLE. He declined to specify exactly when that date would be “pending further police enquiries.”

Winehouse had gone to see law officers voluntarily at around 1 a.m.

The troubled singer, 24, sat down with detectives after police obtained a video which allegedly showed her taking narcotics.

In January, Britain’s Sun newspaper ran photos of Winehouse smoking what the tabloid claimed to be a crack pipe. (She entered rehab soon afterward.)

The soul diva also spent a night in jail late last month. In that case, she admitted to slapping a man during a late-night scuffle outside a bar and was cautioned for common assault.
